A white former South Carolina police officer charged with murder in the shooting death of an unarmed black motorist who was running away has been indicted on federal charges. The charges include depriving the victim of his civil rights.
34 year old Michael Slager has also been charged in an indictment unsealed Wednesday, with obstruction of justice and unlawful use of a weapon during the commission of a crime.
Charged with murder in state court, Slager was fired from the force. He was held in solitary confinement until January. He was then released on half a million dollars bail and put under house arrest at an undisclosed location. Slager was allowed to leave only for work, church and medical or legal appointments.
He is to appear before a judge in Charleston later Wednesday

Can I Get My Criminal Record Expunged if Charges are Dropped? – Florida Attorney Jose Duarte
Listen as Jose Duarte discusses how you may be able to get your criminal record expunged if the state has dropped their charges against you.
An expungement means that your criminal record is destroyed and can no longer be located by anyone. In a previous case, my client was nineteen years old, and he was dating a fifteen-year-old girl. He was arrested. However, the charges were later dropped. He had previously attempted an expungement, but it was not done correctly. That is when John hired me to assist.
We completed the process together. This included submitting an application, getting fingerprints done, forwarding the package to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and ultimately filing a petition for an order to have the records expunged. After this was done, John no longer had a criminal record. Watch the video to learn more.
If you have additional questions regarding having your criminal record expunged, I want you to call me at (407) 846-0075. I welcome your call. Visit our educational website at http://www.DraperLawOffice.com, where you can view more videos and media content from our law firm.
